You may be asking yourself, “so, what is self-care day all about?” Well, it’s a day that is meant for each person to focus on themselves. It should be a day where you show yourself some extra TLC and do things that will benefit your wellness.
Most people don’t realize how much they can benefit physically, but also mentally, from taking a day alone (or even with loved ones) to nurture and care for themselves. Self-care days are meant to recharge, refresh, and rejuvenate you! And though we think you should have way more than one self-care day per year, if you only have one, you should make it worthwhile.

There are so many things in our lives that can cause us stress and overwhelm us. Work, school, family, friends, paying bills, running errands, the list is endless. And because the list of stressors seems never-ending, you must actively work to somehow find balance. That’s where a self-care day comes in.
Taking the time to put your mental and physical well-being at the top of your priority list allows you to restore your energy and peace of mind. That way, when those more difficult moments arise, you are better prepared to handle them with grace, patience, and self-kindness. When you’ve invested the proper time to heal and take care of yourself, you will be more physically and emotionally capable of handling everything life throws at you.
How Often Should You Have a Self-Care Day?
Since each person is different, it is hard to define a hard and fast rule of how frequently you should have a self-care day. But, a great place to start is by using July 24th as your template for change and self-growth. Once you have that one day under your belt, you can work on making it a habit of taking a day every month, or every few months, to focus on yourself.
Though we think you should try to dedicate more time to me-time, we know it isn’t always easy for someone to take a day for themselves. How to Plan a Self-Care Day
When it comes to figuring out how to have a self-care day, you want to make sure that you’re well-prepped and ready to go, so you don’t have to lift a finger when the day comes around.
Everyone’s checklist will vary, but here are a few ideas to make sure your day goes by smoothly:
Determine where your self-care day will take place. Will you stay home, go to a spa, or maybe even book a staycation for one?
Decide what you want to do so that you can ensure you have all the necessary items purchased and appointments set.
Is anyone joining you? If not, do you need to make arrangements for them to be out of your hair?
