I Look to Her with FTD

Traditionally Valentine’s Day acts as an opportunity for men across the country to celebrate the special women in their lives. Whether it is through chocolates and sweets, fresh flowers, or a plush teddy bear, there’s a gift option for every man to consider. This year, however, we wanted to switch up some of the “traditional” gender roles around this globally recognized holiday and have women celebrate other women as a part of our #ILookToHer campaign.

For this initiative we reached out to some of our favorite female bloggers on the World Wide Web and asked them to consider a woman from their local community whom they felt deserved to be celebrated. With FTD flowers in hand, the campaign participants surprised their local inspirations and presented them with a beautiful Valentine’s Day flower bouquet. Luckily they were able to snap some great photographs of the exchange, and we’ve compiled a few of our favorites below for your enjoyment.

Missy at Missy on Madison opted to celebrate her friend Kristi, the girlfriend that inspired her big move from NYC to the palm tree lined streets of Los Angeles. Kristi is not only a best friend, but also acts as a confidant and support system with Melissa’s family all back east.

Jennifer at Bipolar Mom Life said it best when she stated, “[a]s women we don’t do enough celebrating of each other. Girlfriends are who we lean on, who we count on for support and advice, who we look to when life throws us curveballs and we need the gentle reminder that we can get through it. Together.” We couldn’t agree more Jennifer, and we’re so glad this Valentine’s Day you were able to celebrate not only a close friend, but someone with whom you’ve started a non-profit with in the fight against the stigma of mental illness.

Debba at Girlfriendology celebrates girlfriends through her website all year long, but this Valentine’s Day we were able to help her take things one step further and surprise her BFF Cath with a beautiful bouquet of tulips. Within her post Debba also included a quote by Christian Dior which we love, “[a]fter women, flowers are the most lovely thing God has given the world.”

Jenna at Call Her Happy decided to celebrate her mother this year and rightfully so! After spending many years working in a flower shop on Valentine’s Day, it was only right to turn the tables and have her mom as the lucky recipient this time around.

Cris at STYLEanthropy looked to her mother this Valentine’s Day, someone who has been her best friend, confidant, shopping partner, strongest critic, biggest fan, and so much more. In addition to the flowers, Cris also made some double chocolate brownies which look de-lish!
